Yes they can or in whatever other way you can relate. I’ve taken many in my life and in the end perhaps they weren’t really detours but part of a divine plan.
Serendipity is funny like that, bringing you full circle when you stray off the path. If a thing is meant to be… I call myself an “accidental poet” because I became one despite my best efforts to pursue other kinds of creative writing. 🙂
Oh, I am so impressed that you came back to browse. Wow, I haven’t listened to Michael Franks in such a long time. In fact, when I saw the album cover, it reminds me of years ago when I was a high school teacher, early nineties I think. Yes I see the connection. I had a number of thoughts in mind when I wrote this. One of the other songs that resonates with my thinking is this one:
I think if I put both songs together, they make a good companion to my poem. I so appreciate how you tune into the music and the words.😊
