The element of chance

There is an element of chance

In craving for that one last dance

The one that thrills anticipation

Yet flutters you with consternation

There is that element of a dream

Where it is not all that it may seem

Wonder consumes reality in its hours

Like heat condensed by a flash of showers

There is an element of magic around

Grace catches you without even a sound

Slowly spirals her sage incense in the air

You’re wise, cleansed, nothing left to fear

There is an element of fire in your eyes

There’ll be no more hesitation and empty sighs

The dawn breaks open sparkling rays of light

Bubbling celebrations will fill the dim of night

The element of chance I found waiting for me

Is the same one I’m hoping will set you free.

  1. Loving this! I give you one line and you give me the world. Every stanza has meaning for me, but my favorite was this one:
“There is an element of magic around
Grace catches you without even a sound
Slowly spirals her sage incense in the air
You’re wise, cleansed, nothing left to fear”
On Life’s Pilgrimage, only by Grace do we keep from falling. We rest, breathe her sage incense (maybe white sage, maybe the words of a guru), learn from our mistakes, wipe the slate, and summon the courage to try again, to reinvent ourselves. A prayer of encouragement at a time when it is needed most. 🙂

    1. But you did that Joan. I don’t think you realise the significance you have played. You have been that element of chance for me. Anyway, I feel like I’m starting school tomorrow. It’s a new dawn for me.
By the way – it’s all of the above, including the white sage and the guru. Glad you’ve enjoyed this. I’m sure I could steal a few more of your lines if I had the time.😀

  2. Chevvy, I’m sorry I missed this…. a beauty! I gather from the above comment you’re on to something new, so good luck for this endeavour! And if my memory serves me right, it’s your birthday tomorrow- so best wishes again, and a hug! God bless, go get ’em, girl! 😘

    1. Yes, I started a new position yesterday – both complex and exciting. Joan introduced me to a book call The Artist’s Way which is a workbook to complete over 12 weeks. She has walked with me on this journey which was just what I needed to be prepared for this phase of my career, life and creative self. Yeah – I needed the re-energising and I want to pass it on to others. Thank you for remembering and your good wishes are warmly appreciated. Btw, I’m one year ahead of you as anniversaries go. Ours was in Feb. Please drop me note with your date. I know it’s November and would hate to miss it.❤️

    1. Aw Marie, thank you so much. I have had a terrific day! My plans have also finally come together but I think you knew they would😀 Well, as you settle for the longest day, we will be having the longest night tonight. I hope to be around more once I’ve settled in.😀

    1. Thank you for including me in your story so that I too can hear the call of the Nightingale. I enjoyed visiting the other blogs as well. Glad that I could be part of your inspiration along with shopping for “shoes”😀 Have a lovely Sunday Joy!😀
