It’s not the same anymore.
I can feel the silence.
I hear the empty rooms.
I pace the wooden floors.
Vacillating between
Arrays of emotions.
I want to believe,
So earnestly believe!
Then I see the look in their eyes…
Is it fear for them or me?
It gets cloudy and I cannot see.
Then I begin to babble
To block out the deafening silence.
I have to believe!
Be resolute and firm in my belief.
Remind myself of the race
Which I have run,
Crossing so many tracks,
Jumping so many hurdles
Lancing the javelin into the air!
Then hearing the crowds’ applause,
I have to begin, I have to believe!
That a new world has opened its doors.

Going through the same set of thoughts. Wonderfully expressed . thanks for sharing 🙂

Wow. I am going through a lot of the same stuff you express in this poem. Thank you, Chevvy, for providing hope through your words. You’re a strong poet indeed. You make me proud…
Which is why I nominated you for the “One Lovely Blog” Award: https://xaranahara.wordpress.com/2016/01/20/one-lovely-blog-award-brought-to-you-lastly-by-xara-nahara-oconnor/
(Of course, if you find yourself too busy to do this award, I completely understand. I just wanted to let you know how awesome you are.)

Thank you so much Xara for reading my work. My poetry is a mixture of personal experiences and sometimes commentary on what I experience in the world or in the Blogosphere. Writing as you know is cathartic and helps you put things in perspective. I’m glad that this poem has meaning for you, I think that’s what poetry should do – leave us with a message a something to think about.
Thank you very kindly for the award I accept it as a personal recognition from you but in the past they’ve just piled up on me so I’d rather keep my blog award free. Still, I am humbled that you admire my work as you’ve expressed. I look forward to chatting again and take care! Chevvy

I quite understand. It took me two hours to write the award post alone. I don’t spend that kind of time on my own poems!
I figured you wanted it for more personal recognition. I knew you had too much other stuff to do.
But yes, this poem speaks to me on a personal level.
