When I close my eyes
My mind takes me places
I can only dream
When I close my eyes
My mind takes me places
I can only dream
Who could have known
Dreams would lie shattered
Human life no longer mattered –
Last breath sighed on their own.
Insulated, disconnected or isolated
Behind thin masks and stone walls
Or hollow, emptied shopping malls
Meanwhile we’re all being mutated
To a future that is unprecedented
A contradiction-
Making time invalid,
Inevitably-
The world has to change,
Is social distance
a cure or infection?
What’s new in the normal?
I wrote this poem last year and thought I’d repost it. I’d also like to dedicate it to Marie, one of my blogger friends, on her birthday which she celebrates today. Have a wonderful birthday Marie. ❤️
Little girl take care
Don’t let the world tie you down
Shove you in a box
You were born with wings
Spread them out– take to the sky
You were born to fly
Step out of the box
That will confine how you think–
Limit your worldview
Beware of the cage
That barricades your thoughts with bars
Of doubts and fears
Find the pearls within
Shake off the grey shells of doom
You were born to bloom
Hoist out of your own petard…
When you look within
You will find true abundance
The power to glow
Just a passing ship
But you drew my attention
A lush view of life
The winter too long
Branches too bare
Shadows too solemn
The air too bleak
And then you hovered
A promising blush
Soft and beguiling
Melting the snow
You warmed my heart
Quickened my pulse
Exhaled my breath
Clouded my judgement
I have fallen for you!
The wheel of life turns
Despite the complexity
It comes back to you
Mist obscures the view
But Faith restores my vision
To shape something new
