By the cooling waters

Lake Geneva – Montreux : Chevvy8

I miss your laughter

and your smiles,

the familiarity of

seeing you everyday,

even when you are miles away.

It’s strange

how you make me feel like this,

igniting flickers

I never thought I had,

when seeing you again,

makes me feel so glad.

Is it de ja vu,

feeling like I’ve always known you ?

How you read me so well.

How I feel your emotions,

tides turning across the oceans.

There is a space for you

preserved in my heart.

Come close my dear

and feel it race,

each time you show your face.

Come rest here awhile,

By the cooling waters,

Let me make you smile.

After the storm

In response to the Poet’s Billow challenge for day 1, here is my take on the thunderstorm theme.

Heaven growled

in displeasure, spluttering

and spitting her tears

of anger on all of us,

soaking the land with her wrath.

Flashes clicked far

and wide at this historic event,

Her rumbling anger

inconsolable, like death.

How could we redeem ourselves?

Unabated sparks

whipped our writhing bodies.

Then she subsided in pain,

breaking her holy waters

like a mother, giving birth.
