More than enough

Just to have loved you

For a lingering while

That is more than enough.

Just that fleeting sojourn

We shared on a forest path

Gave life new meaning

That I needed from you.

Do you remember,

the day that we first met?

The sun steadily drizzling

Through fluttering leaves,

The riotous orchestra

Of harmonious birdsong

As we fell into step.

By your side, nothing to hide

In sheer naked splendour

Our true selves laid bare

Your voice was so gentle

As you took my hand in yours

Guided and sheltered me

From a jungle of thorns.

You gazed deep into my eyes,

Took me back to a place

Where we’d been together

In a distant time and place.

When we reached the river

And your lips touched mine

I heard the rush and the trickle

Of ages gone by, where

This precious moment

Was reminiscent of travels

In Oblivion’s  past.

This was no dress rehearsal

But the real opening act

Of a mysterious drama

Based on historical fact.

So in this moment

of perilous ecstasy

Tranquility found me

And I know for certain

That no other love

Could ever leave me

Feeling quite like this!

      1. Synchronicity, I guess that’s what I meant the other day when I wrote, “I type and you click” I’m always amazed by how thoughts align transcending time and distance:-)

  1. Chevvy… This is so beautifully written. Your words wandered in my mind, carrying me along within the past life journey. You touched my heart and sensually caressed my antediluvian soul… I often hear “the rush and the trickle”… isn’t it beautiful…

    1. Glad to see that you lounged around in my studio. I think you’ve realised by now that I’m an old soul. Definitely been around a couple of times. So I’m happy to meet someone who can relate and hear the rush and trickle. Of course, I also believe in moments even ones like these when impact each other’s lives unexpected. “My sensual” writing as you refer to it – is just who I am but I am fanciful too which I guess is the lincence of most poets. Thank you for appreciating my work Michael. Best Chevvy.

      1. Good morning Chevvy… Once again I am here enjoying your words with my first cup of coffee. I have found that a most pleasant way to spend my early morning. I also believe in those special moments of unexpected acquaintance… They are often so beautiful. I am filled with gratitude that we have found ourselves lingering in one another’s words and thoughts. Thank you for sharing yours with me….
Hope your day is filled with beautiful moments…
