I know

I know the yearning feelings of you.

I know your hunger to feel heard,

Wishing your dreams would come true,

To take flight and feel free as a bird.

I know the longings of your heart,

I know how years may seem wasted,

You ache to make a fresh start

Instead of new words, cut and pasted.

I know in choices you feel trapped.

I know loneliness, when you’re not alone,

When it seems your life is already mapped

And dark nights feeling on your own.

I know how desperately you seek the light

I know how conflicting it is, searching for more!

As sun steadily rises, new hope is closer in sight!

Our eyes vigilantly waiting for a new opening door.

I’ve learnt that choices, I alone must make.

Not so easy when roads fork, only one I must take!

Another year

The carousel has turned

Full circle once more

The scenery has changed

The flowers now rearranged

Some petals have scattered

Lost carelessly in the  wind

But here is another season

To sow and harvest again

Like fine wine, it was a very good year

But the very best, can cost you dear

So I’m searching new favorite blends

Need to catch up on the  latest trends

Time has come to recant and decant

So I raise my glass to another great year

I can smell the fresh fragrance in the air

I feel the breeze as it blows through my hair

And if I should stumble in the midst of it all

I believe that you’ll be there to break my fall

Don’t give up

I cannot take your pain

Since I would be a thief

To take what isn’t mine

You do not need my crime

I cannot hear your groans

In midnight’s silent breaths

That grow loud in your head

As Sleep stands you up again

I cannot taste the last drops

Of the bottle, your sole mate

Though I wish I could know

What your thirst feels like

I cannot stop your crying

Or know the river’s source

But as you climb the mountain

And it starts to get steeper…

Know  that it will descend

When you get to the other side

A-float

   the torrential rush–

   the merging of two rivers

   caught in collision,

   tumbling, falling,

  submerged and subsumed–

  then the stream faltered

  into a trickle,

  leaving only the salt

  of tears long dried out.

 sometimes

 the bouy bobs and drifts,

 still afloat

 in a small pond.

She catches a sob,

wiping the lonely tear

before it falls for him

again.

Under a full moon

ethereal light–

your distance tonight

rides the back of Winter’s chill

yet in your fullness

is the womb’s promise–

deliverance of a beating pulse

why then this feeling?

this desolation and doom–

weighing heavily in the dark

as you rise in the heavens–

spread your nurturing warmth

to those whom you have given birth

swaddle them gently–

nurse them with your loving care

and as you lay them down to sleep

dispose of their wasted fears…

Aura of love

It’s like a magical trick

When I type, then you click

When you suddenly cross my mind

Your puzzle messages I find

Trapped in your own juxtaposition

You fire your blank ammunition

Straight at my simmering heart

Confessional-stained ink in your art

You want to leave, but keep returning

For the love you are still yearning

I know how conflicted you’re feeling

Because that same love has me reeling

I’m still trying to find my own way

Uncertain if you should return and stay

It’s the aura of love that magnetizes

And soul’s longing that hypnotizes

In my shades of violet and blue

I’m still here love– waiting for you…

But you’ll need to calibrate the dark shades

That you flaunt in dazzling white charades

I see your true colours…

Always

A promise to myself

that I just cannot keep

to walk away or turn the other cheek

or  stop day-dreaming. Then it starts again

Always

It’s that subtle lilt within your voice

your tongue-twist of carefully crafted words

that scintillating, sliding glance

and there I go again, unravelling

Always

Then you’re feeling me

like I’m feeling your magnetic pull

like magic, you suddenly appear

Your pockets filled with tricks

Always

My head and heart cannot agree

about where I ought to  be

but before I change my mind

I’m in your arms entwined

Always

It’s that old devil called love again

Always

Still here

Still here

My heart beats for you

Red throbbing until it bursts

Spreads its map across your path

Even as you would race ahead

You come back to find your bed

Still here

I wait patiently for you

Orange fire flaming and burning

Lighting every corner of the land

Greeting you with a bright new day

Aroused, my love for you here to stay.

Still here

Serenity

Serenity

swathed in vacuous clouds

tucked in silent drops of rain

drifting curtains of misty spray–

this feeling when I pray

Serenity

away the pain of massacres

of triggers, blades and blame

protesting, powerless rage–

the muted venom of our age

Serenity

rest with me tonight

cuddle me gently in your arms

kiss me with your scented breath–

lift me from this deepening depth

But never bury me in the sand
