Yet still I love you…

I’ve travelled the world

I’ve landed in space

Still everywhere I see your face

I’ve admired the birds, flowers and oceans

Drifted in the  rush of flowing streams

Still I find you waiting  in my dreams

You have followed me wherever I have been

You shared in all that I have done, all I have seen

You’ve seen the paradoxes in me and I in you

Yet still…I love you

Shall we…?

What shall we be

if not each other’s keeper

when night becomes the grim-reaper

What shall we do

if we can’t salt the earth

and our flint can’t  fire give  birth

What shall we say

of he who had vision but could not see

she who had time but was never free

What shall we offer

to a child who cries for his  mother

when his hunger fuels hate for another

What will we find

when we peer to  depths of our soul

will it be  a mound or a big gaping hole

What shall I tell you

my dear friend – that your heart is on the mend

if we take hands  and give shoulders to lend

Seize this moment to choose a side

will you stand up or seek a place to hide?

You got the best of me

This poem contains a hidden poem to give you a total of at least three poems

You’ve given me the best years

of your life and I’ve given you mine too,

the best gifts ever any woman could

want or man deserve, it’s been blessed!

As I gaze down life’s road; most of it has

been smooth. You’ve given me the

best time of my life. There was no one

quite like you, to do it quite like you.

We’ve had problems like most people

do, but no cracks that could not be tarred.

You spoke to me with your heart and soul,

filled the need in me, made me feel whole.

Our music played in perfect harmony

you knew the words before I sang them.

Let’s toast to many years ahead and

pray to choose the right fork in the road.

Long– I’ll remember, as you will too,

the best time of my life with you!

All this time

All this time

I’ve been caught in a stupor.

How could I forget

Memories we made together?

So many reminders

All this time,

Wherever I go

Still reflected in my heart.

You should know

Since you placed them there,

All this time

Carefully tended with your love.

When you call my name

It  all comes flooding back.

I thought I was over you

All this time.

The Desiderata of Blogging

Go placidly amidst the posting,

commenting and liking of other blogs.

As far as possible– be on good terms

with all your blogger friends.

Speak your truth to yourself–

telling them only what they want to hear,

even those who annoy you by

reblogging what they haven’t read

to steal your hits and your likes.

Avoid busybody bloggers

who stalk you from their toilets–

never reading a thing you wrote.

They are shallow irritations to your art.

If you compare yourself to how

many followers they each have

or how fast their likes tally upwards,

you may as well close down your blog

since you will become morbid

and feel cheated for the work you put in.

Enjoy each comment and view

since it means someone has read you.

Keep interested in what made you blog

initially, however often or simply you blog.

It is a real achievement just to have posted.

Exercise caution in what you share–

your mother-in-law  may be a follower too.

Yet don’t be afraid to post your thoughts

otherwise you might as well write in your dairy.

Especially, be yourself, don’t pretend to be Prince.

Show your face behind the mask if that will help.

Do not press “like” when you do not understand

what the writer is trying to say.

Remember that they may catch you out

in their reply to your comment.

Take kindly the advice of other bloggers

especially if they have stood the test of time.

Nurture the strength of your ego to not

believe that everyone is writing about you.

They too have many flaws of their own.

So don’t stress with dark imaginings.

It’s not always about you, just sometimes

Practice discipline – you don’t have to

blog every hour or only once a month.

You are a child of the universe, not less

than the trees and the stars they all write about.

Regardless of which country you are from

you have a right to blog if you’ve paid WP.

And whether you have 5 followers or 1000

be content that your word is out there.

With all its faults, the internet takes you

to places you’ve never been and even if

you’d rather write a letter, nothing beats

a reply in an instant from a stranger

you don’t even know.

Keep peace in the knowledge

that each of your likes counts and let that

thought make you cheerful. Be happy!

Unseasonal rain

Unseasonal–

is the soft drizzle, that mists up

my window pane – enveloping

and comforting –as a mother

to her newborn child.

Unseasonal–

when roles are reversed–

wanting, to take foetal position

for yourself – to be cuddled and nursed,

still oblivious to the world of heartache.

Unseasonal–

when Autumn leaves loiter about,

wanting, retrieval of the buds of Spring,

retracing the steps of your youth,

wandering– what you would do differently.

Unseasonal–

though it may seem– rain will come

as it chooses, soft drizzle or pelting hard!

Is it in your stars, the choice or the measure–

or do you just choose to dance in the rain…

wherever and whenever it comes …

Flowers and butterfly wings

Mine is a restless one

still searching for what was

what was meant to be

and what might yet be

Perhaps I’m just a dreamer

but that’s fine with me

to believe my other half

is out there searching for me

It might just be that time

when these things start to matter

where you’ve lived and done

most of it all, yet there’s this quest

Then someone sent a reminder

that showed you what’s possible

something you had been missing

and did not realize until you met

So yes, there is contentment

in the many gifts that life brings

the bees and flowers and things

and beautiful butterflies with wings

But still someone whispers

that this is not enough

You might be disappointed –

but the feeling doesn’t quite stop

That while the dice has been cast

not everything is made out to last

Would you rather wallow in a black hole

or try finding that other piece of your soul?

Rising…above the flaws

The flaws of humanity–

shredded and torn

tied and knotted

then stitched together

again and again

The flaws of humanity–

stripped and folded

bundled and bartered

then dealing the currency

again and again

The flaws of humanity–

belong to each of us

blood-curdled hands

in marching or folded arms

again and again

Yet still we rise above–

some seek a higher purpose

kissing our blemishes

our bruises and flaws

again and again

Finding you

Emotions stumble

drunkenly towards the edge-

uninhibited

by what others think

floundering and falling down

left in disarray

on another day

you will find sunny smiles

when happiness speaks

love does that sometimes-

rolling turbulence today

still waters the next

while concealed depths

deceive the glassy surface

with images of joy

imagined or real-

they infect everyone else

especially you

shared feelings find

comfort for loneliness

when they recognize

the yearning you have-

a desperate emptiness

needing to drain out

before it becomes

like spreading cancerous cells

gnawing at your soul

you let down your guard

and invite all of them in-

the bliss and the hurt

passion’s pendulum

parades new colors each season-

no rhyme or reason

just the wild pursuit

the primeval quest to be

who you truly are.
