Writing

Starting over

It’s like the tease of the first spring rain,
permeating the air. Trying hard to contain
the anticipation,  sigh of relief, pressure valve release,
As her fragrance latches onto the wafting breeze.

That wonderful feeling of walking away!
A muted sense of peace at the end of the day,
not looking back, liberated from steel chains.
Revving up the engine, is all that remains.

As the sun gives her blessings to close the day,
Night time whispers a promise as you bow to pray.
When  dawn ushers in a burgeoning sunrise,
you are certain to receive a gift-wrapped surprise.

So much lighter now, without the  cumbersome baggage
of the sugar-coated smiles, disguised barbed words to ravage.
Retreating unholy thoughts, forgotten anger to replace
With a wild surrender to magnanimous freedom in space!

Sunlight shadows

Witness the vibrant marriage of flowers and foliage

blessed by gold rings of Sun’s holy passionate kiss.

Yet a pensive and foreboding mood hovers in the air

with scatterings of surprise and imminent doom.

Beneath the bright colors and reflective gloss

lurks an ominous shadow, divined by the oracle.

Butterflies and bees in their absence, echo in silent breeze.

The message gathers wings and flies with birds among the trees.

Onlookers passing by, are deceived by this dazzling beauty,

the holy matrimony of the Sun and his captive concubines.

They lend tacit applause with no understanding of Flowers’ plight.

Though brilliant in its shine, the Sunlight is unbearably harsh.

If they would care to look a little closer, they would discover

that the Sun is sometimes a cruel and unforgiving lover.

Picking his favorite flower and flaunting her eminence

while cursing her flaws beneath his heated, bitter breath.

Yet the flowers honor their vows, staying true to their promise

“Until death do us part” while they stand firm in their courage,

their faith upheld in the belief that everything must change.

The moon will arrive with tender care and Weather brings relief.

So carry their burdens as they must ,while in the universe they do trust,

that Sun will always give them life and for as long as they have this-

Hope is always in sight for a new day of vivacious, thriving blossoms

that will bring the butterflies and bees fluttering and humming back.

Salt of my tears

The salt of my tears washed with the sea

As I swam to the horizon searching for me

I tumbled with the waves in fluctuating emotion

Deep-diving into mysteries of a rapturous ocean

Astounded by the array of creatures I found

The resplendent beauty held me spellbound

Genuflecting to the greatest artist of all time

Creator of love, of all that is pure and divine

Lost and found midst the kaleidescopic vortex

Fresh understanding stirred in my visual cortex

Of a beauty and wonder I had never seen before

My soul floated by, a bright light leading to a door

There in the secret chambers, on the ocean’s floor

I found a glimmering scroll, engraved with my score

A tally of my life’s account and the outstanding balance

With budget notes, on how to offset the sum of my talents

Then I heard a voice so tender and profound

Encouraging me to finish the race to higher ground

Intense feelings of sorrow left me feeling bereft

For a moment I felt helpless as I wept and wept

Gently he took my hand, leading me back to the air

Sharing my burden, telling me I had nothing to fear

God in all his wisdom, would honor my every need

Splashing out of the water, my soul majestically freed!

Close that door

Close that door on your anger

Still contending and defending who is to blame

Re-living all the hurt and your dark secret shame

Until it becomes a lethal toxin to your existence

Organ pipes tuned so loud, you lose all resistance

Close that door on your resentment

The festering sore that never seems to truly heal

Opening new wounds in old scabs that you peel

That thick bile that keeps congesting your chest

Until Misery’s eggs are warmly laid in your nest

Close that door on being the victim

Emotionally scarred and taken for granted

A washtub, a door mat – in your mind implanted

Time for a new way of looking at what life brings

Perhaps a different pest control to fend off the stings

Close that door on your deception

It’s nothing strange, we all hide behind our masks

Ready to please and tease the world in all that it asks

But when the sun peaks inside, someone pays the price

Of souls torn apart in a cold, steely, shredding-device

Close that door on your unhappiness

The world is filled with a myriad of magical things

Time’s too short to not breathe in all that nature brings

So many smiles lie wasted behind curtains of tears

I’ll drink a toast to you and hope you’ll say Cheers!

Close that door so that new ones may open

Here’s to you for all dreams you have been hoping!

Be beautiful today

The world needs your beauty

Wake up relaxed and refreshed!

Give to each and all of your best!

Step out of your door in vogue style!

Put on that waxing lyrical smile!

The world needs your kindness

Deliver from your warm heart,

Inspiration through your fine art,

For all who unceasingly suffer,

Needing your trees’ sheltering buffer.

The world needs your love

For someone who longs to hear

How you feel, that you truly care

And if you’ve cried all night long,

Let they who hurt you, right their wrong.

The world needs your faith

Believe in the promise of seasons

That in each there are good reasons.

Sad and dark as the day may appear

Someone has heard you out there.

Why not let that someone be you-

Who makes someone’s dream come true?

Be beautiful today!

You are not alone

I whine and dine my aching parts

But none as painful as yours

I lament my young reminiscences

But you have raced ahead of me

I bemoan for a rose-colored love

But find yours broken in shards

I awake longing for more hours of sleep

But pain denies your rest all night long

I quibble and worry about life’s mistakes

But discover you’ve had more than your share

I chase eternal rainbows of happiness

But realize that you have never been there

So I thank my twinkling stars and rising sun

For filling my life with ordinary moments

These ordinary moments are your lighthouse

When you find yourself lost and tossed at sea

I cannot promise to fix your broken fragments

But let me share my light in your darkest night

And when you see stars falling before you

Know that someone far away has heard

It may not solve all your trials and tribulations

But it may bring comfort that you are not alone

Without your love

I could tell you that I really love you

And not mean a word I say.

I could tell you that I’m thinking of you

When instead, my mind is far away.

If only you would take a closer look

You’ll see what I see in the mirror.

My fears and doubts and roundabouts

Of telling you how I really feel.

That my heart skips a beat each time we meet.

You arouse my mind like no one else did.

The touch of your hand sends flurries to every nerve.

You burn into the deepest part of my soul.

Without you, I can exist. But what I really want

Is to truly live.

I’m not truly living at all without your love.

A new world

It’s not the same anymore.

I can feel the silence.

I hear the empty rooms.

I pace the wooden floors.

Vacillating between

Arrays of emotions.

I want to believe,

So earnestly believe!

Then I see the look in their eyes…

Is it fear for them or me?

It gets cloudy and I cannot see.

Then I begin to babble

To block out the deafening silence.

I have to believe!

Be resolute and firm in my belief.

Remind myself of the race

Which I have run,

Crossing so many tracks,

Jumping so many hurdles

Lancing the javelin into the air!

Then hearing the crowds’ applause,

I have to begin, I have to believe!

That a new world has opened its doors.

I have time

At midnight,

Your hands gently stroke my face,

My seconds and minutes

Turn into hours as your right hand-

Stretches over me.

The only sound,

The ticking of my heart-

Breathless!

My time is in your hands.

Stop for a moment

Right there, yes there…

On the dot,

Just in time.

My alarm screams out!

Just before sunrise.

Perhaps love is like a roller coaster ride

Perhaps love sets you in a churning motion,

In turbulent waves like the rolling ocean,

Starting on highs, dipping into heaving lows,

Compromising direction as the wind blows.

Perhaps love spins you a crescent moon,

An incomplete journey ending too soon.

Just as you were beginning to enjoy the ride,

The gravitational pull turned into a glide.

Perhaps the highs made you laugh and scream,

Consumed in burning flames, now just a dream.

A fireplace of ashes, long forgotten and cleaned,

A car,off tracks with reckless speed, it has careened.

Perhaps love has stayed the course in its frequent bumps

And its dips, leaving you with a heart that still thumps

Each time she kisses your lips and holds you up close.

Perhaps through rivers of time, your love still ardently flows.
